About Us
Oak Furniture Store is a growing furniture retailer operating across New Zealand and Australia, specialising in quality solid hardwood furniture and contemporary home furnishings.
As we continue expanding our Australian operations, we are establishing dedicated marketing resources to support our long-term growth and market development.
We are looking for a creative, motivated and detail-oriented Marketing Assistant to join our Auckland-based team, focusing specifically on the Australian market.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or an early-career professional with a background in Marketing, Digital Media, Graphic Design, UI/UX Design or a related discipline to develop practical skills in digital marketing and eCommerce.
About the Role
The Marketing Assistant will support the planning, execution and continuous improvement of marketing activities for Oak Furniture Store's Australian business.
Working closely with management, digital specialists and other operational teams, you will assist with digital campaigns, website content, UI/UX improvements, product presentation and marketing performance analysis.
The ideal candidate will have a combination of creative design skills, basic technical knowledge and a genuine interest in digital marketing and eCommerce.
Key Responsibilities
1. Digital Marketing & Campaign Support
Assist with the planning and execution of Australian digital marketing campaigns across Google, Meta, email marketing and other relevant channels.Prepare marketing materials, promotional banners, social media content and digital advertising assets.Support seasonal promotions, product launches and other marketing initiatives.Assist with campaign scheduling, coordination and performance monitoring.Conduct competitor research and identify emerging marketing trends within the Australian furniture market.
2. Website UI/UX Design & Optimisation
Assist with website layout design, product page presentation, landing pages and promotional content.Create basic wireframes, mock-ups and design concepts using Figma or equivalent design tools.Support improvements to website navigation, mobile responsiveness and overall customer experience.Identify website usability issues and suggest practical design improvements.Work with internal teams and external developers to support website updates and theme improvements.Ensure website design and content remain consistent with company branding guidelines.
3. Shopify & eCommerce Support
Assist with Shopify product listings, collection pages, website content and merchandising.Support website updates, promotional landing pages and product information improvements.Monitor website presentation, functionality and customer shopping experience.Assist with basic website testing and troubleshooting.Coordinate website improvement requests with relevant technical teams.
4. Marketing Analytics & Reporting
Assist with monitoring website traffic, conversion rates and marketing campaign performance.Prepare regular marketing reports using Shopify Analytics, Google Analytics and other relevant tools.Support the analysis of advertising performance, customer behaviour and sales trends.Identify opportunities to improve customer engagement and online conversion.Maintain accurate marketing records and campaign documentation.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Support
Work closely with Australian Customer Service, Purchasing, Warehousing and other operational teams.Assist with coordinating marketing activities according to product availability, promotional schedules and business priorities.Support new website development, digital improvement and Australian market growth projects.Maintain effective communication with internal teams and external service providers.Assist with the development and continuous improvement of marketing processes and SOPs.
About You
We welcome applications from recent graduates and candidates with approximately 0–2 years of relevant experience.
Essential Requirements
A qualification or relevant educational background in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Graphic Design, UI/UX Design, Digital Media or a related field.Basic practical knowledge of UI/UX design principles and digital design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.Understanding of digital marketing concepts, social media marketing and eCommerce.Good visual design sense and attention to detail.Strong computer literacy and willingness to learn new platforms and technologies.Good written and verbal communication skills.Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.A proactive, collaborative and problem-solving attitude.Legal right to work in New Zealand.
Highly Desirable
Familiarity with Shopify or similar eCommerce platforms.Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.Experience using Figma to create website layouts or UI design concepts.Familiarity with Google Ads, Meta Ads or Google Analytics.Basic understanding of SEO and conversion rate optimisation.Experience creating digital advertising assets, website banners or social media content.Previous internship, university project or work experience in digital marketing, eCommerce or website design.
